IEP first of BIL results
PA Wellington Industrial Equity (Pacific), Ltd, is due .to announce its annual profit tomorrow — the first of a trio of results from the Brierley Investments group. However, the lEP profit should not be taken by investors as an indication of the profit of Brierley itself. Brierley will report at 4 p.m. on October 3, with investment analysts picking a result of more than $3OO million. Some leading brokers are forecasting profit as high as $340 million to $350 million. Several British brokers are understood to have prepared more conservative forecasts, putting the result at below $3OO million. lEP is expected to produce a good result but questions surround the Australian subsidiary, Industrial Equity, Ltd, known to have been hit badly by the sharemarket crash. lEL is due to report on September 29. The Brierley result will again attract a sweepstake among analysts, with each one putting up $5 this year.
