Priests after Sunday rate
NZPA-AP Oslo A national organisation of Lutheran ministers in Norway has called for extra pay for work on Sundays. “There’s nothing wrong with that,” the national news agency, NTB, quoted Knut Lein, the head of the group, as saying. “All other working groups, including parish clerks and organ players, get extra pay for Sunday work or for working inconvenient
hours.” The request for a pay increase is part of a 19881990 programme adopted by the national association of priests, or Presteforeningen, as it closed its annual general assembly. The Evangelical Lutheran Church is Norway’s national church and is supported by the State. The ministers are paid by their local governments. Other religious groups are also State-subsidised.
