400kg lost by slimmer
NZPA-AP New York Walter Hudson, who weighed between 545 kg and 636 kg last year, walked out of the door of his home for the first time in 18 years, announcing he was down to 236 kg. "It all looks pretty good,” he said outside, wearing sunglasses. “I shouldn’t have waited this long.”
With his every step covered on live television, Hudson pushed himself up from a couch, walked through two interior doorways and stepped out of his back door on to a specially built patio. He sat in a chair made of concrete.
Hudson, aged 43, and I.Bm (6ft) tall, came to public attention last year when he became wedged in a doorway at his home. Fire-fighters had to cut him free. The • comedian-turned-nutritionisi, Dick Gregory, got him started on a diet. Barbara Rosen, a psychologist, also took up his case.
