The special fly-free-to-Ireland bonus for Air New Zealand U.K. Apex-fare passengers applies only to transfers made to Aer Lingus in London. An Aer Lingus press release printed in this column last
week said transfers could also be made in Los Angeles. I trust someone will advise Aer Lingus that it does not fly to Los Angeles.
Finnair will introduce a second weekly service to Helsinki from Singapore (via Bangkok) next April.
The Ettamogah Pub, based on the popular cartoons drawn by Ken Maynard for the “Australasian Post,” has been such a success that a whole village in the same idiosyncratic style is being developed. Teetotaller Maynard’s wacky establishment and its even weirder patrons are an Australasian institution. The reallife version, built at a cost of more than sAustsoo,ooo, is located at Taple Top, a township about 10km north of the Albury/Wodonga twin cities on the Murray River. Now it is extended, with new features and further buildings. A “jail” carved from the giant trunk of an old red gum — with room enough for three rowdy patrons — has been set up in the pub’s beer garden. A leaning barn has been built behind the pub, incorporating a restaurant, stage, dance floor, kitchen and bar:
