August food up 0.3 p.c.
Political reporter
Food prices rose 0.3 per cent in August. The Statistics Department said the rise took the annual increase from August last year until last month to 5.8 per cent. The main contributors to the small August food
price increase were meat, milk, sugar, ice-cream and ice-blocks. Decreases in prices were recorded for coffee and soft drinks.
The year to August, 1987, saw food prices rise 15.8 per cent, exactly 10 per cent more than the latest result.
