Leading sale prices
Although the fine edge of the Halfbred clip was slightly cheaper compared with Thursday’s Christchurch sale, several lines of Halfbred sold between '7ooc and 800 c a kilogram. Sales above 800 c included 12 bales of 23.6 micron from B. A. Turner (Rangitata) at 850 c (74.4 per cent yield), and eight bales of 24.1 micron from A. M. R. Elliot (Hakataramea Valley) at 819 c (77.8). Island Cliff Farm (Kurow) received 776 c (80.2) for eight bales of 25.2 micron Halfbred; G. and F. Mcßae (Albury) 727 c (75.6) for 14 bales of 25.1 micron woolly hogget and 672 c (73.6) for five bales of necks; A. W. and P. J. Milne (Albury) 701 c (74.5, 25.8 micron) for six bales of woolly hogget; and L. and R. Scott (Albury) sold nine bales of 25:8 micron at 729 c (77.9).
Among sales of extra fine Merino was one bale of 19.1 micron from Otekaieke station (Duntroon) at 1955 c (72.6) two bales of 19.1 micron woolly hogget from B. and M. Kortright (Methven) at 1900 c (74), and 10 bales of 19.4 micron from Grant Brothers (Rangitata) at 1750 c (68.6) Hurstlea Farm (Hakataramea Valley) sold nine bales of 20 micron at 1510 c (69.1), E. G. Ludeman (Oamaru) three bales of 20.3 micron at 1468 c (71.1), Delargy Downs (Kurow) three bales of 20 micron at 1459 c (65.8), and A. J. and M. F. Clayton (Waimate) seven
bales of 20.4 micron at 1429 c (71.2).
In the Corriedale section, 20 bales from J. de and C. de B. Galway (Ashwick Flat) made 696 c (78.9, 27.5) six bales from Pentland Hills station (Waihaorunga) made 665 c (76, 27.4), seven bales of necks from G. Hayman (Hakataramea Valley) made 651 c (71.7, 26.8), and eight bales from B. M. and R. M. Mcllraith (Kurow) sold at 651 c (73.1, 27.4). Other leading Corriedale prices included 646 c (70.2, 26.3) for six bales from B. E. and J. D. Cooney (Hakataramea Valley), 648 c (74.4, 27.6) for 14 bales from M. D. Ross and Partnership (Albury), 648 c (72, 26.9) for six bales from K. E. Gunn (Hinds); 649 c (72.3, 27.1) for six bales from D. E. and B. J. Bray (Sherwood), 649 c (71.4, 26.7) for four bales from Brunswick Downs (Waihaorunga), and 640 c (79.2, 30.1) for eight bales of two-tooth from J. N. Heanessy (Waimate).
Twelve bales of crossbred woolly from Gravendale Partnership (Mayfield) made 674 c (85), and nine bales of similar description from Nimrod Downs PartNership (Albury) fetched 660 c (81.3). Sales of crossbred shorn hogget included 649 c (80.6) for five bales from an undisclosed vendor and 624 c (82.3) for 11 bales from J. E. Mulvihill and Son (Geraldine). Crossbred two-tooth made
623 c (84.1) for six bales from J. F. and M. R. Sims (Fairlie), and 618 c (84.7) for 10 bales from M. M. Knubley (Albury). D. A. Williams (Fairlie) sold six bales of crossbred ewe at 644 c (85.1). Sales of Romney woolly hogget included 10 bales from A. D and M. F. Bean (Mayfield) at 648 c (81.2) and 13 bales from Mona Farm PartNership (Mayfield) at 632 c (79.1). Langley Downs (Pleasant Point) received 638 c (84.7) for 21 bales of Romney shorn hogget, R. A. and L. S. Farrar (Peel Forest) 641 c (88) for 24 bales of Romney, and Gawler Downs (Mayfield) 660 c (90.1) for nine bales of Romney cross.
Perendale woolly hogget prices included 670 c (83.7) for eight bales from R. P. A. Thomson (Fairlie), 645 c (80.4) for 12 bales from McLeod Brothers (Oamaru), and 636 c (79.1) for 13 bales from Springvale Farm (Fairlie).
I. Hurst (Waimate) sold 11 bales of Coopworth woolly hogget at 674 c (79.9), R. E. and M. A. McDowell (Mayfield) received 620 c (85.3) for 16 bales of Coopworth, and M. L. S. Talbot (Waitohi) sold 10 bales of Coopworth shorn hogget at 619 c (85.6). Among Borderdales were 12 bales of woolly hogget from E. D. McKerchar (Cannington) at 626 c (80.1) and six bales of Borderdale from A. K. Jopp (Cave) at 619 c (84.9).
