Telecom investigation

PA Wellington The Opposition spokesman on Post Office Corporations, Mr Roger Maxwell, says he will ask the Commerce Commission to investigate some Telecom price increases. Mr Maxwell said yesterday that corporatisation had given the monopoly of Telecom “a licence to print money.” He said some of the increases, “like the $94 a year increase in residential telephone rentals,” were well known but others were not. He was aware of a small business facing a 170 per cent increase in charges for advertising in the Yellow Pages.
