Bottles injure police

PA Auckland Two policemen suffered minor injuries when guests at a Mangere social threw bottles late last evening. A police spokesman said about 10 police had been called to the function at a college hall. Sergeant Paul Marsh said bottles and stones were thrown at them about 10 p.m. “People just kept throwing the stuff until they ran out of ammunition.”

Seven people will appear in the District Court at Otahuhu today on charges of assaulting the police and breach of the peace. Guests at a New Lynn party also hurled bottles at the police. There were no injuries. Four men and two women will appear in District Court at Henderson on several charges, including obstructing the police, inciting disorder, assault and minor disorder.
