New mobility cards
New bright yellow plastic parking identification cards have been produced for disabled drivers. The new cards, which have a suction cup to stick to the windscreen, replace the old paper cards in softplastic folders which looped on to the driver’s window. The manager of the Canterbury-Westland branch of the Crippled Children Society, Mrs Marilyn Vicary, said the old cards were not satisfactory because they could not be seen clearly. “We hope that the new cards, being an obvious yellow, will be a big improvement.” The cards are available to any disabled person for $ll. Each card is valid for five years. Mrs Vicary said the society was in the middle of processing about 3000 applications for the cards, which will be used from November 1.
