Award upheld
A federal appeals court has upheld a $U5450,000 ($NZ707,231) damages award won by the singer, Frank Sinatra, against a Swiss clinic for promoting a false claim that the singer tried the clinic’s “youth serum.” The ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a judge’s ruling that the clinic misappropriated Sinatra’s name and rejected the clinic’s claim that a Cali-fornia-based federal court had no jurisdiction over its activities. —San Francisco.
