The same number of trading ships entered the Port of Lyttelton from October, 1987, to July, 1988, as in the 1986-87 year.
For the 10 months to July 31 this year 569 vessels entered the port, said the Harbourmaster, Captain Jack Barbour, yesterday. For the period to July, 1987, 569 vessels entered the port. However, the gross re-
gistered tonnage of those vessels to July 31 this year dropped on the figure for 1987’s corresponding period. To July this year the recorded tonnage was 5,153,527 tonnes. To July last year the tonnage was 5,618,001 tonnes.
• Forty-eight vessels, excluding fishing boats, called at the Port of Lyttelton during the month to August 15.
