Baha’i hui in Chch
Up to 60 young North Island Baha’i people will be in Christchurch this week-end for a hui as part of a South Island peace tour. The young people will bring with them a message of peace and unity which they hope to share with the tangata whenua (people of the land) and kaumatua (elders) at Rehua marae, in Spring-
field Road. During the hui the young people plan to meet members of their faith as well as speak to other groups. More than 85 Baha’i communities exist in New Zealand. The religion was founded in Iran, in 1844, but now has its world centre in Haifa, Israel. It was founded in New Zealand in 1913.
