Cheque for car was worthless
PA Auckland A transvestite who used a dud cheque to hire a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce for himself and two friends, was given a 12month suspended sentence yesterday. Judge Morris also fined Natalia Tomopoi Ahu, aged 29, an unemployed interviewer, of Herne Bay, $2OO. He noted that Ahu had already reimbursed the
car hire service the $420 cost of what he called “an elegant ride.” Ahu earlier admitted he and two associates drove around Auckland for several hours before paying the bill with a personalised cheque Ahu said he found in Point Chevalier. Defence counsel, Mr David Reece, said Ahu told him he took the limousine as a lark, but now accepted it was not acceptable behaviour.
