Practical woodworking, metal trade skills, plumbing, outdoor construction techniques, farming skills and automotive engineering are all covered on this course. WOMEN IN TIMBER ANO CONSTRUCTION Cqurse dates: September 12 to November 4, 1988 This course is designed to give women the opportunity to learn how to handle, identify and work with timber in a supportive and flexible environment in both construction and manufacturing fields. WOMEN AND WORK - NEW DIRECTIONS Course dates: September 26 to December 2, 1988 Interview on September 12 This course aims to provide women returning to the work force an opportunity to build the self confidence and self esteem needed to succeed in the new tough, competitive working environment of today. It helps the trainees to clarify job options, extend their existing skills and develop new ones. This development includes job search techniques and interview skills. EXPANDING JOB CHOICES FOR WOMEN Course dates: October 10 to November 18, 1988 Interview on September 27, 1988 Young women today face a widening horizon of job options. This course builds up personal development and improves life skills. It teaches job interview techniques and extends social skills with information on legal rights, managing money, flatting and tenancy rights, health and drug abuse information. Practical skills are given a hands on approach and job experience placements. JOB SEARCH The Department is having great success with their Job Search Access Course Trainees finding work. METAL TRADE BASICS A 10 week full time Access Course Interviews Thursday, August 25, 1988 If you are under 20 years of age and want to have training in the metal trade skills this course is for you. Basic metal trade skills, health and safety are the main subjects taught on this course. No School qualifications are needed, INDUSTRIAL MACHINING AND PATTERNS Interviews Tuesday, August 23, 1988 This course teaches basic sewing, overlocking, button hole machine use, pattern drafting and basic metric calculation. No school qualifications needed.
