Exocet works keenly
Special correspondent Hastings A fast 1000 metres by Exocet and solid workouts from Etoile d’Or and Uncle Seymour highlighted a busy session at the Hastings track yesterday morning. Galloping was carried out on the plough and No. 1 grass, both tracks providing firm footing. Exocet (Frethey) worked keenly on his own when running 1000 m on the plough in 60.75, the last 600 m in 365. He was bogged down by a heavy track at last week’s Waipukurau trials but looks to have trained on well since and is likely to kick off a fresh campaign in the weight-for-age Tim Rogers Stakes (1600 m at Wanganui this Saturday week.
Etoile d’Or (O’Keefe), preparing for the open sprint at Wanganui on Saturday, worked with stablemate Lucky Dip (Cronin) over 800 m on the plough, the last 600 m in 37.85.
Etoile d’Or ran a good second over 700 m at last week’s Waipukurau trials. She is likely to need her race at Wanganui but is coming to hand nicely.
