Buyers take a keen interest in some of the 2070 goats being sold at auction by Pyne, Gould, Guinness, on behalf of the receivers of Crowe Corporation. One of the receivers, Mr Peter Steel, of the Christchurch office of Price Waterhouse, the national accounting firm, said that all the goats had been sold. The auction was held at Eyrewell Farm, Eyreton, near Christchurch, as part of the liquidation of Crowe’s stock. Negotiations were still proceeding on the sale of Crowe’s goats in Britain. This was being conducted by an agent for the receivers, Mr Steel said. Crowe, a listed goat company, was put in receivership on July 21 by the National Bank, which held a floating debenture over the company.
