One-stop store a new concept

A completely new concept in one-stop kitchen appliance buying officially opened in Christchurch today. Kitchen Appliance Specialists at 320 Manchester Street ushers in a new era in customer service.

Kitchen Appliance Specialists is designed to service all kitchen needs under one roof from the upgrading and new design of a kitchen area to the choice of appliance to the electrical and plumbing requirements for alterations or new equipment. A complete finance package will also be provided if required. “There is nothing like this in Australia or New Zealand. The closest concept to this is in Germany,” said the managing director, John Mills. “At present, when people are upgrading their kitchens they may have to go to at least three different shops to satisfy all their needs. This operation overcomes that.”

Kitchen Appliance Specialists also has the advantage of not being associated to any one brand thereby giving customers the opportunity of comparing easily different brands and models. “We have been

researching this concept for 18 months and have studied in great detail the different brands and models of appliances to ensure our customers get the best quality products and the best value for money.

“We are not in the business of selling cheap quality imported goods. “Purchasing appliances is a major undertaking and householders are looking for between 10 and 15 years use from their major appliances.” Included in the range are Shacklock and Atlas from New Zealand, Simpson from Australia, Asea (Sweden), A.E.G. (Germany), Smeg (Italy), Gasfire (Italy) and Jenn-Air (United States).

As well as the usual items such as microwaves, dishwashers and refrigerators other more select items such as halogen cooktops, modular hobs, benchtop cooking systems, pasta making machines and food dehydrators can also be found. “We will also source products for customers if we do not carry them in our range but with the one proviso that the quality has to be up to scratch,” he said.
