I.R.A. kills U.K. soldier in Ostend
NZPA-Reuter Dublin The Irish Republican Army said today it killed a British soldier who was shot dead in the Belgian ferry port of Ostend. The guerrilla group claimed responsibility for the killing last night of Warrant Officer Richard Heakin, who was shotpps
he stopped his car at traffic lights in Ostend. Witnesses said two men who had been sitting on a roadside bench ran to the soldier’s car as he slowed down and one of them shot him in the head three or four times. Mr Heakin .was travelling alone.
