Decision delayed
Trainer Barry Taggart is likely to delay any decision about Red Hawk starting in Canterbury Jockey Club’s Paritai Handicap, possibly until race morning tomorrow. Red Hawk pulled up well after his Akaroa Handicap win at Riccarton on Saturday but was not quite to his trainer’s liking yesterday though
nothing serious was amiss. The decision may rest on the state of the track. “He’s raced and done a lot better since the tracks firmed so we are more likely to start if there is no rain. He will also get plenty of weight in C2 on the last day so we’ll just wait and see,” Taggart said.
