Electricorp advts
Sir,—The series of Electricorp advertisements being screened on television are enough to make one boil over! Having just received a far larger than expected electricity account, to be told that an oven “only costs ...” or a heater “only costs ._.” to run, is nonsense. My power bill tells me, in no uncertain terms, that there is nothing “only” about it. That money should be wasted in this way is galling — no amount of advertising is going to stop most of us from trying to economise with our heaters and lights, etc., wherever possible, in vain attempts to keep those everincreasing bills to a minimum. Could someone perhaps reveal to us just how much our bills have risen over the last, say, two years, compared with the level of inflation? — Yours, etc., (Mrs) PATRICIA A. GRAHAM. ’ July 25, 1988.
