Evidence saves dog’s life
NZPA-AAP London A guard dog sentenced to die has been reprieved because a pet psychologist said he was suffering from job stress. The death sentence was handed down after Nipper, a windowcleaner’s guard dog, had attacked a postman, a student, and an accountant, the “Star” reported. Magistrates decided he was a danger and should be put down. But after evidence from a pet psychologist, Chris Standen, the verdict was overturned. Mr Standen said the reason Nipper had been biting people was that his owner had left him alone in strange surroundings while he cleaned his windows, causing stress to the dog because he felt threatened.
