Dynamic winner
PA Paeroa Te Akau Lad put on a dynamic performance at the Paeroa Racing Club’s meeting yesterday when he won the Matamata Bakery Handicap by 16 lengths. Te Akau Lad looked to be in control throughout the 2200 m journey.
He settled in behind the pacemaker, Stellar Gold, during the early stages of the race, but took the lead at the 1000-metre mark and from there nothing threatened the Zamazaan gelding. Caesar’s Reign finished on well to take second, just ahead of Stellar Gold. The second favourite, Count Gold, was disappointing and finished ninth.
