Longo wins women’s Tour again
NZPA-Reuter Paris Jeannie Longo, of France, won the women’s Tour de France cycle race for the second successive year on Sunday. Longo beat her great Italian rival, Maria Canins, winner of the Tour in 1985 and 1986, by one minute 20 seconds at the end of the 12stage race. Virginia Lafargue, of France, won the final stage, a 64km ride from Chaville to the French capital, in a time of one hour 36 minutes and 36 seconds. Longo was fourth in the stage, five seconds behind Lafargue.
