Sex charge acquittal
After a retirement of four hours a jury in the High Court yesterday found Trevor Bryan Norris not guilty of a charge of sexual violation of a girl, aged 16, by having unlawful sexual connection with her, on April 19.
Upon the jury’s verdict, after a trial lasting two days, Mr Justice Tipping discharged Norris, aged 35, unemployed. Norris was represented by Mr G. S. Collin. Mr G. K. Panckhurst appeared for the Crown.
Evidence was given that Norris and the girl knew each other. The complainant’s evidence was that she did not consent to the acts she complained of, but the t defence was that there had been consent.
