Tilbury Docks works soundly
Special correspondent Woodville
Tilbury Docks worked soundly at Woodville on Tuesday looking improved by last week’s outing in the Winter Oats. Fast work took place on the outside of the course proper, which was very wet.
Tilbury Docks strode over 1200 m in 1:27, speeding up to run the final 600 m in 42. He ran second at Trentham and is a leading chance for the Taumarunui Cup. . King Aussie went 800 m. He was not timed, but looked to be revelling in his work. The ground was too puggy for him at Trentham, so trainer, John Harris, decided to reserve him for a three-year-old event at the Waipa meeting this week-
end. He will be accompanied north by Te Awamutu Cup runner, Lunar Trail. Bretwalda ran 1200 m in 1:26.7, the last 600 m in 43.7. He does not go very fast on his own. Bretwalda is a chance in Saturday’s Pukehou Hurdles at Awapuni. Corkage went easily early over 1000 m, increasing speed over the last 600 m in 43.4.
Suzy Harbour and Danny McGee ran 1000 m in 1:10.2, the last 600 m in 42.4. Suzy Harbour shows promise and is in the Transporters Maiden, while Danny McGee lines up in the Lake View Maiden.
Pacific Dawn galloped 1200 m in 1:26.1, the final 600 m in 42.1. He contests the Sandy Lodge Handicap on Saturday.
