NZPA-AAP Canberra Australia’s Trade Practices Commission (TPC) said yesterday it saw no need to intervene in the proposed takeover by transtasman food conglomerate, Goodman
Fielder Wattie, Ltd, of British foods group, Rank Hovis McDougall, Pic. The anti-monopolies watchdog said it had examined the likely implications for Australian processed food markets
should the proposed £1.5 billion (NZ53.878) bid be suc- ■ cessful. The commission investigated the operations of both companies to see if the takeover would create a monopoly in the Australian market.
