Canty team debates for cup
A Canterbury debating team will compete today for the Challenge Cup, against a New Zealand Universities team at Cashmere High School.
The debate has been organised by the Canterbury Speaking Union and begins at 12.45 p.m. The Canterbury team will be Mr John Ryder, Mr Chris Wadeson (both from the Forum Club), and Mr Rodney Routledge (W.E.A. club). The topic will be “Politics is the trivial pursuit.” The Canterbury team will take the affirmative. In another debate, also part of the National Bank secondary schools’ debating tour, a New Zealand Universities team will contest a Canterbury University team, at 10 a.m., at Christchurch Boys’ High School. Their topic will be “That we should ask the fish.”
