BHP in Congo
BHP Co’s petroleum division will start its first operation in the Congo in West Africa through a joint venture on a petroleum exploration block. BHP Petroleum (Congo) Inc. will have a 20 per cent interest in the Kayes B block; BP Petroleum, Ltd, the operator, will have 30 per cent and the Congolese State oil corporation, Hydrocongo, 50 per cent. Kayes B is a 1300 square km area on the coast.
