Eastern bloc jewellery
Czechoslovakia prides itself on being the world’s top exporter of costume jewellery, sending its wares to 117 countries. A range of 250,000 types is produced in Jablonec, which has a 600year tradition in the craft. Glass, stones, pearls, beads, metal, plastic and wood are used to make bracelets, necklaces, brooches, rings and head-dresses. The present revival of interest in 1920 s and 1930 s fashions is reflected in this diamante cats’ eyes mask and crescent moon diamante tiara from the Jablonec range.
