NZPA-AAP Canberra Hundreds of truckdrivers last evening were maintaining their blockade at Yass, near Canberra on the Hume Highway, amid deadlock with the Federal Government over their demands for a moratorium on new truck registration fees. The Transport and
Communications Minister, Senator Gareth Evans, ruled out a moratorium but offered to examine the possibility of staggering payment of the fees. He also repeated an offer to meet representatives of the truckles in Canberra if they agreed to lift the blockade involving about 800 trucks.
