Ansett New Zealand is promoting a “Down-town Day” during the Kiwi Lager Queesntown Winter Festival at the end of the month. Ansett’s programme on July 27 will include a formula one bed race, a waiters’ race, and a birdman competition. “Ansett New Zealand sup-, ports the Queenstown Promotion Bureau in its efforts to promote Queenstown,” said the airline’s area manager, Mr John Ellis. The festival will begin on July 23.
The Dutch are smiling. Their airline, KLM, has announced a profit of $233 million for the last financial year. It follows a profit of $222 million for the previous year.
Visitors to Medieval Times, a new attraction at Buena Park, have to use their fingers to eat a fourcourse feast in the grand
hall of an “eleventh century castle.” Utensils are not provided. Amusement is provided by battling knights on horseback.
Visitors who fly to Bali on Garuda must reconfirm their homeward or onward bookings at least 72 hours before departure — or risk being left behind. The airline’s tickets have stickers attached advising passengers to reconfirm, but, apparently, many have been failing to do so. ♦ » ♦ The Swiss Federal Railways and Swissair have introduced a new service where passengers using the railways’ “Fly-Bag-gage” facility at Lausanne, Berne and Zurich stations ' can now also check in for Swissair flights and even receive their relevant boarding cards.
