‘Gradual return’ to P.M.’s workload

By

BRENDON BURNS,

political reporter

A gradual return to his full workload is forecast for the Prime Minister, Mr Lange, when he makes his expected return to work next week.

His deputy, Mr Palmer, said Mr Lange was likely to leave hospital in the next couple of days.

He was due to return to his Beehive office next week. “I expect him to resume full duties gradually. I wouldn’t expect him to begin at full pace,” Mr Palmer said.

However, decisions on any workload were for Mr Lange and his medical advisers to make, he said.

But he believed a Prime Ministerial presence would be felt again very quickly in the Beehive.

Mr Lange is due to travel to Australia in a month to complete the renegotiation of the new Closer Economic Relationship with Australia.
