Impostor thwarted

A burglar posing as a Tisco repair man was thwarted on Wednesday afternoon after taking two video recorders from a King Street, Sydenham, house.

Detective SeniorSergeant Dave Whitford said a big Maori or Pacific Island man was seen leaving the house with two video recorders.

The offender was wearing a pair of white overalls bearing a “Tisco” emblem.

A friend of the householder confronted the man who claimed he was taking the recorders for servicing. “His identity was challenged by the person who came across him.”

He then put down the video recorders and left the address, saying he would return with identification. The man did not return.
