Health-care plan

Sir,—The ,M.P. for Waitaki, Mr Jim Sutton, is reported (June 14) as vowing to stop Weilcare from providing health care for the Fijian military as “these people have destroyed democracy in Fiji.” Ironically, Mr Sutton’s remarks come when his parliamentary colleague, Mr Russell Marshall, has just paid a visit to Nigeria, whose military Government has also destroyed democracy in its country. Alas, Mr Sutton has not seen fit to raise any objection to Mr Marshall’s hob-nobbing with Nigeria’s military dictatorship.— Yours, etc., W. R. DOBSON. June 14, 1988.
