NZPA-Reuter East Berlin' New ski-jumping rules aimed at excluding the likes; of Britain’s Eddie “the Eagle” Edwards from inter-' national events may include a distance test for certain; jumpers. 1 East Germany’s leading newspaper said yesterday; the International Ski Federation’s (F. 1.5. mooted new, regulations envisaged selecting the top 50 jumpers in’ the world plus 30 others who would have to pass a; distance test in two compulsory jumps. “This means de facto the exit for Eddie Edwards,' who rose to dubious fame at Calgary,” the Communist; daily “Junge Welt” said. * “That is, unless he trains hard, very hard ...” J The bespectacled Edwards came a distant last at the: Winter Olympics earlier this year but his humour and; nonchalant approach won him many fans.
