Pastel third
A Christchurch art student, Andrea Roberts, aged 19, has gained third placing in the Beecham Research Laboratories Art Awards with a pastel drawing entitled "The Rape.” Miss Roberts, of Hamilton, won $lOOO for her entry. The judge for the awards, Mr John DalyPeoples, of Auckland, described “The Rape” as a difficult and fascinating picture to look at. \ The distorted human form took on aspects of both lover and aggressor. First place went to a work by Melvin Webb, of Auckland. A painting by Julian jOashper, of Warkworth, second.
