Ten-pin bowling final
The first Kuhtze Masters 10-pin bowling centre final was held at the Garden City bowl centre, with. Nigel Blacklock heading the qualifiers with a six-game score of--1099. He finished just ahead of Sandor Schneider, who scored 1092. Schneider bowled the high game of the day with a 239. Both players qualify for the South Island final on July 30. The Simulex final was also played recently, the men’s section being won by Kevin McClure with a 1009 series over six games. The women’s section was won by Glenys Cooper with a 965 series. McClure bowled
the highest game for men with a 239, while Joyce Schneider totalled 217 in the women’s section. Recent tournament and league bowling have produced some high individual game and series scores. Blacklock bowled a 279 game and Darryl Murphy a 258 game, both including 10 strikes in succession. Murphy also recorded a 255 game in a 600 series. High three-game series include Blacklock’s 647 and Phil Jones’ 604. Noel Cook has been bowling well with a 619 and 614 series, and David Palmer has scored consistently well with a 612 and two 610 series.
