Soccer hat-trick
A hat-trick by Billy Wright sparked Auckland to a 3-0 win over Waikato in an interprovincial soccer match at Auckland on Wednesday evening. Auckland retained the Winfield Challenge Shield with, its victory achieved in front of a 500-strong crowd. Waikato failed to match the pace of the home side, which was well served by its wingers, Kim Wright and Tony Levy, and its midfielders, Darren McClennan and Chris Riley. The next challenger Is Franklin on July 13.
