Keeping of kiwi denied
PA Auckland A property dealer pleaded not guilty in the District Court at Otahuhu to a charge of keeping a kiwi, a protected bird. Robert Briscoe Johnson Kimball, aged 40, is charged under the Wildlife Act with keeping “one absolutely protected wildlife species — a kiwi” at his Heme Bay home between February 4 and February 10. With a Papatoetoe builder, he was also charged jointly with receiving stolen horse saddles and riding equipment. Kimball pleaded not guilty to both charges before Judge Heather Simpson. He was remanded on bail to August 1. 7
