League men in limbo
The rugby league careers ■ of I Barry Goldsmith (Papanui) and Allan Couch (Kaiapoi) are in limbo. Neither will be permitted toj play again until an appearance before the Canterbury judicial committee. Both Goldsmith and Couch were sent from the field by Mr Noel Turner during a I premier game at the Addington Show Grounds last Saturday. But only Mr Turner attended the judiciary hearing on Monday night. "We understand Couch flew to Australia on Sunday, though not because of this matter,” said the Canterbury Rugby League secretary-manager, Mannie Underwood, yesterday. "Goldsmith did not appear either, and both have been suspended until they do so.” | . Goldsmith was charged with i trying to kick his way out of an opponent’s grasp, and Couch with “continually flouting the laws.”
