N-zone threat
NZPA-Reuter Sydney Australia’s main opposition Liberal Party said it would renegotiate the South Pacific NuclearFree Zone! Treaty if it came to power. The Liberal foreign af-_ fairs spokesman, Mr John' Spender, said at the weekend that Australia should preserve its option to allow its allies to deploy nuclear-capable forces from its territory.
Australia’s [Labour Government signed the treaty along with members i of the 13-nation South Pacific Forum in 1985.
