A tow truck extracts a Honda Civic from the front window of the ANZ Bank in Kaiapoi yesterday afternoon. The car had earlier plunged backwards through the window, extensively damaging the front of the building and forcing the bank to close. The Kaiapoi Traffic Officer, Mr Wayne Templeton, said the car had been parked outside the bank, and the accelerator had jammed when the driver engaged reverse. The car had clipped the vehicle parked behind, and had then swerved into the bank’s window. The driver was unhurt.
