PA . Hamilton A;: Waikato boarding school chef trained at Waikato Polytechnic has won; first place out of 10,000 entries in an international examination. Mr Nick Parker, of Cambridge, was presented with a bronze medal (or winning' first place in his section in the City and Guilds of London Institute Cookery for the Cater ng Industry examinations in 1986. |'
Mr Parker, aged 28, who is catering manager at , Waikato Diocesan School for Girls in Hamil- i ton, says his aim is to! change the imagej of boarding school cooking. . “My aim is to: overcome the idea of institution cooking being so gross and to, try |to get the minds of people to change over the feeling about institution food:; There is no reason | why! institution food should be so horrible.” | il ■ I
