Silver buttons and shoes shone when Christchurch members of the Order of St! John paraded for the order’s annual inspection arid) award ceremony at the )Pioneer Stadium ( last evening. ) The inspection party included the Mayor of Christchurch, Sir Hamish Hay) and senior officers of; the order in the north.eiin J region of the South Island. |O|der members wore medals while the arms of th'e (young cadets sported proficiency' badges they gained. If enough’are accumulated, they make a cadet eligible for Ghind Prior’s badges and certificates. ) I' (Watching the presentation* was Mr Douglas (May, who has served with the Order of St John for 52 years. All St John members attending last evening’s ceremony are part-time volunteers) and work in one of the) three branches of the order’s work: transport, tuition, or icommunity activity. The following received awards: . i
Sixth bar for 42’years service, George Wright; fifth bar for 37 years service, Ivan Solomon: second bar for 22 years service. Ivy Laws, Anne Fraser, Ivan Sword; first bar for 17 years service, Ronald Morrison, Frederick Simmons, Mae Hines, Yvonne Flitcroft, Graham MacDonald. Anthony Scot and Teresa Perry. Service medals for 12 years service, Kenneth McTague, Allan Coulson, John Cantin, Colin Neal.) Cynthia Scott, Lorene Harrison.
