Oakley, formerly of Wellington, has been as high! as No, 4 on the national ranking list and was a member of the New Zealand side, which finished runner-up to England in the 1985 women’s | world teams’ event in Dublin. I She is attending the University of Canterbury and has joined the j Christchurch Squash Racket’s Club y/hic|i is organising this week-end’s tournament. I i . Oakley has |won the No. 1 seeding ahead of last year's top-ranked I; Canterbury woman, Justine Marriott, Freda Walker, and Leonie Ward, who has! moved: to Christchurch from Invercargill- J I I --!
Canterbury’s itop ranked man, Paul Viggers, will be seeking to repeat his 1987 victory with the hard-training Nigel Lloyd, soon heading for Lbndon, his likely opponent in the final. * The same pair met in the Richmond Working Men’s Club tournament final nearly three weeks ago; Viggers winning in straight games. : The other seeds are Craig Hibbert' and Michael Penman, two other players who have represented Canterbury. ! All the players in the men’s grade are B-graders or above while the women’s draw is also fairly strong with only two!
