Conference on Sharing water resources
“Sharing a scarce resource” will be the theme of the biennial conference of the New Zealand Irrigation Association in Blenheim from April 11 to 14. The association’s Marlborough branch. I has planned a varied conference programme which will reflect segments of traditional and diversified development which has occurred in Marlborough over the last decade. Dr Mike Trought, the branch chairman, said speakers will cover a wide range of topics including rules for sharing the water resource, userpays requirements, irrigation scheduling and the future of irrigated agriculture. Speakers will include systems designers,, engineers, manufacturers, farmers, consultants, and researchers, while a field trip will visit a defined area which has multiple demands for the limited water resource.
