Girls can be keas, cubs
Girls will be allowed to become ikeas and cubs next year. The Scout Association of New Zealand has agreed to admit girls aged between (six and seven as kea scouts, and girls between eight and 11 as cub scouts, from February 1, 1989. ( Pressure to include young girls in the association! came from local scout groups throughout New Zealand.
Girls aged between 11 and 15 have been enrolled as scouts since September last year,i after extensive discussions and a twoyear trial in several places. The opportunity for) young women, aged between 15 and 19 to become venturer scouts has been available since 1978.
