Michael Morel finds meaning of life

Mr Michael Morel, of Christchurch, believes he has discovered the meaning of life. A proponent of positive thinking and self-responsi-bility, he is selling his answer to the jigsaw through his book, “Maximising Your Chances in the Game of Life,” and workshops. “I don't want to be known as the great white guru, but I believe I do have the formula for life,” he said. Mr Morel, who was educated in Christchurch but has spent the last 12 years in Australia, found the path to success after reaching a crisis point 15 years ago.

“I am talking through experience because I have been right down to the dumps with only 20c in my pocket,” he said. His personal and business life was in a shambles, and he began to question what life was about. "I began asking questions about myself and seeking answers,” he said. One of the reasons he believes he was able to find solutions where others could not was because he chose to be independent. He was not restricted by a job or family, although the break-up of his marriage was one of the sacrifices he had to make, he said. Mr Morel was reticent about the details of his experiences, but said he was able to overcome the conditioning of his upbringing and eliminate his fears and guilt about things he had done.

“I [ discovered that everyone had the same tools to be confident and successful, but what was required was a change of attitude from the negative to the positive,” he said. Through Toastmasters International he became involved in public speaking, debating and youth leadership, and as his ideas [began to cement into what he refers to as his “formula” he began running private courses. His I workshops challenge people to assess the stage they have reached in their lives and to rethink their ideas towards success, in a non-threaten-ing way, he said.

Mr [ Morel "returned home” to Christchurch three weeks ago, and intends to begin running workshops locally after Easter.

He is seeking sponsorship for people, such as the unemployed, who are unable to meet the course fee.
