Defendant naked in protest at searches
• • ■ NZPA Adelaide ■ j A man appeared naked in tije Adelaide Magistrate’s Court yesterday as a protest against strip searches of prisoners, police said. Brenton Keith Hocking, aged i 27, of suburban Broadview, was before the Court for a committal hearing on charges) : of house breaking and driving while disqualified.! Police said Hocking [had taken off his clothes at
the Yatalalprison, north of Adelaide, before he was taken to the city watchhouse for! the court appearance. I (Police i said he was asked to 'put his clothes back on I after he was searched ‘at the city watchhouse, but he refused. ! ’ .
I Hocking was handcuffed as- he sat in the dock during the hearing. j He entered no plea and was remanded in custody to reappear on March 31.
