Sydney campaign likely

PA Levin The Levin trainer, Geoff Haig, said yesterday that if his two high class fillies, Candide and Serestrina, came through tomorrow’s Glen Oaks Breeders’ Stakes, at the Manawatu Racing Club’s meeting at Awapuni, in good order they would be flown to Sydney on March 30.

Candide, the winner of the 1000 Guineas, New Zealand and Great Northern Oaks and more than $350,000, needs to win the Breeders’ Stakes, or earn a stake and beat arch foe Impasada, by two placings, to take the Wrightson “Filly of the Year” series.

Serestrina, a winner of one race, has been consistently placed against the best fillies, accumulating over $BO,OOO. Should the fillies go to Sydney, where their main objectives would be the AJC Derby and Oaks, they will be joined by stablemate, Eroica, a four-year-old mare which has won three races for about $15,000 in stakes.
